Description

NURPROOF (Elastomeric SBS Modified Bitumen Coating) is a one-component SBS modified bituminous liquid waterproofing membrane, ready to use and highly elastic, designed for waterproofing foundations and floors and for the restoration of bituminous and slated membranes. It is composed of elastomers, bitumen, resins, and additives dissolved in solvent. It is a thixotropic paste that can be easily applied both horizontally and vertically. Once dried, it forms an elastic, continuous, waterproofing membrane that is resistant to thermal changes, UV rays, and acid rains.

NURPROOF adheres perfectly to various substrates such as bituminous sheaths, concrete, asbestos, plaster, wood, metallic surfaces, and more. It is used for waterproofing various applications, including eaves, underground foundations, restoration of old bituminous waterproofing, sealing chimneys, waterproofing shower stalls before laying ceramic tiles, corrosion protection, and more. Its unique composition makes it suitable for applications on humid supports and during winter.

Advantages of Using NURPROOF (Elastomeric SBS Modified Bitumen Coating)

  • Can be applied vertically and horizontally.
  • Provides outstanding waterproof properties to ensure excellent protection against corrosion.
  • Easy to use, as it is a single-component product.
  • Elastomeric and solvent-based, offering high elasticity with a permanent flexible membrane.
  • Excellent water resistance after complete hardening.
  • Demonstrates excellent adhesion to most building substrates.
  • Resistant to chloride and sulfate ions.
  • Resistant to the aggressive effects of underground soil and groundwater.
  • Membrane can be easily repaired by spot application.

Application Instructions & Instructions for Use

Surface Preparation

The concrete surface should be sound, clean, and uncontaminated. Ensure it is free from dust, loose particles, and any deleterious matter. If the concrete surface is defective or has laitance, it must be cut back to a sound base.

On metal surfaces, remove oil, grease, varnishes, rust, dust, and mold by wire or stiff brushing and grit blasting, then wipe with white spirit prior to priming. Remove moss and lichen physically and treat with fungicidal wash. Wash it down thoroughly with clean water and allow it to dry.

Priming

Highly porous concrete or concrete containing micro-silica will require priming with a coat of NURPROOF diluted with 10% of solvent. Apply the primer at a rate of 5-6 m²/L and let it achieve a tack-free condition before applying the top coat. A second coat of primer may be necessary for excessively porous substrates.

Application

Apply two coats of NURPROOF by brush or squeegee at a rate of 0.87 m²/liter, resulting in a total dry film thickness of a 2.0mm thick membrane. For large structural areas, variable mechanical loads, and moving cracks, fix fiber mesh between the coats. The two coats should be applied at right angles to each other with a minimum of 6 hours between each application at 25°C. Ensure each coat is completely dry before applying the next coat. A third coat can be applied blinded with clean sand for protection against foot traffic and to provide a good key for a top screed. Do not apply subsequent applications if the membrane is punctured or damaged.

Cleaning

NURPROOF should be removed from tools, equipment, and mixers with clean water prior to the initial set. Once it has dried, it can only be removed with white spirit.
